The tools you need to build your lightbox
Here's a list of the tools and materials you'll need for most kits. There are slight variations depending on the box you choose, for example the number and weight of your sheets of paper or whether you need to buy transparent sheets.
- A printer (black and white)
- A few sheets of A4 machine paper
- A few sheets of A4 tracing paper
- A dozen sheets of thick A4 paper (around 240g)
- A4 transparencies, rhodoid type
- A precision cutter and spare blades
- A cutting plate
- Vinyl glue or wood glue
- 3mm white featherboard (1 A4 sheet)
- A ruler graduated in centimetres
- Pencil and eraser
- A wooden tea caddy, the size of which will vary depending on your kit: depending on the kit, you can find it on the Rayher website, the Fourmi Créative website or on Amazon. Tins generally cost around 10 euros.
- A 1m or 1.5m strip of white or coloured LEDs that can be cut to size. Similarly, you'll find LED strips for between 5 and 10 euros.

I had a wonderful experience making my first DIY ‘Agartha’ lightbox. The steps described in the instructions are very clear, which confirmed my choice. I was able to follow the steps very easily and get a wonderful result. Don't hesitate to make your own lightbox! You'll be as proud of your work as I am.

It was a great experience and the explanations were very clear and easy to follow. Once the box was finished, I was really proud to see what I could do with my 10 fingers.

I hesitated for a long time before buying a kit, for fear of not being able to do it or not understanding. In the end I loved it and made several lamps to give to friends and family. I quickly bought a second kit and now I just need to find the time to do it.
